Investing in Our Team: Brown Recycling’s Commitment to Employee Development

At Brown Recycling, our employees are the core of our business. We actively support the professional development and career growth of our team across every area of our business, helping ensure everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

In 2023 we invested over £17,000 in training programmes and professional qualifications to provide our team with the knowledge and training needed to support customers with valuable waste management advice, bespoke solutions and outstanding service.

Over 70% of our workforce have undertaken training courses in the last 12 months, including everything from first aid training and driver CPC to health and safety, accounting, sales, and marketing. These have helped ensure our team has the skills and knowledge to keep pace with the everchanging developments in the industry and to develop their careers with Brown Recycling.

Rachel Slater, Finance Manager at Brown Recycling, stated the following regarding the training courses:

“The main driver of providing training to the team is for self-development and empowerment. Finance is an important part of any business and investing in the training and development of the team has provided the knowledge they need to perform to their best.

By applying their newly developed skills to their role there is an instant satisfaction in being able to positively impact the company. This is evident in their confidence levels during discussions with colleagues from across the business on technical issues.”

Shani Gallagher, our Logistics Manager said:

“Training is an essential part of a driver’s career, and it is a legal requirement that the driver’s CPC is kept up to date. At Brown Recycling we have a dedicated Driver Trainer who completes all in-house training for new starters, annual driving assessments for existing drivers and refresher training as and when required. We also arrange CPC courses for our drivers with an external provider. Overall, in 2023 a total of 2408 hours of CPC training was completed by our drivers.”

At Brown Recycling, we recognise that the development of our team is integral to delivering the high-quality service that our customers expect and deserve. As we continue to invest in our employees, we remain dedicated in our commitment to being a leader in waste management solutions with a trained, dynamic and capable workforce.
