KMF Great Glen Canoe Trail Challenge 2023 – Douglas Macmillan Hospice

KMF Great Glen Canoe Trail Challenge 2023 – Douglas Macmillan Hospice

This September, Brown Recycling will join with a group of friends to embark on on a 3-day, 60-mile canoe challenge across the waterways of the Scottish Highlands from Inverness to Fort William; an event usually targeted for completion over 5 days. To increase the difficulty, weather permitting, we will attempt the route in reverse so that we will be paddling against the wind throughout. The trail includes navigating our way through 22 miles of man-made canals and the challenge of portage, manually lifting fully loaded canoes around 14 lock gates on the way. The distance we will need to carry the canoes ranges from 175 to 650 metres. The remaining 38 miles will be covered via sections of the Lochs, Ness, Lochy, Oich and Dochfour linked by rivers Oich, Ness and Lochy! Throughout the challenges the nights will be spent wild camping on the waters edge.

We are constantly inspired by the work of Douglas Macmillan Hospice and want to show our support by raising vital funds for them.

What our clients say about us

“We are hugely grateful to Brown Recycling for their help on DIY SOS: The Big Build in Stoke. Dave and the team went above and beyond to clear the site and then bring in other suppliers who also supported this great cause. Thanks to the generosity of countless suppliers and volunteers, Stoke now has a community centre that will support its residents for many years to come.”
