We Teamed Up with AO and Donated a Skip!

Nick Ellis from Brown Recycling and Trish Goodwin from the community garden

Recently, the team here at Brown Recycling partnered with electronics retailer AO to offer a skip to a community garden. This happened by chance during a day of volunteering by AO personnel, who can devote two work days annually to voluntary service.

A team of 11 AO employees helped tidy up the Rawlyn Road Allotments in Bolton, a portion of which is reserved for a community garden run by volunteers from Bolton GP Federation, Age UK Bolton, and Bolton Wanderers in the Community. The garden provides valuable green space for the community and serves as a great venue for service users to grow their own fruits and vegetables.

While the AO team was there, they realised they needed a skip to help clear debris and general rubbish, so they contacted us! We loved the idea of the project, so we arranged for the delivery of an eight-yard builders skip to the site for free.

This is what Nathan Ibbs, head of business development at Brown Recycling had to say: “When AO approached us for help, we simply had to get involved. We’re all about giving back to local communities and are more than happy to have played our part in helping the team of volunteers get the community garden cleared up. The skip will be on site for a week, before we’ll collect it and arrange for safe disposal of the green waste.”

We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more of our recycling adventures. Watch this space!
