DIY SOS: The Big Build

Services used: Tippers , Wheelie bin hire & Skip hire

If you’ve been following the new DIY SOS: The Big Build series recently, you will have noticed that there was an episode in Stoke that we had the privilege of being a part of. The episode saw a patch of land in the Fegg Hayes area of Stoke-on-Trent transformed into a community growing field and multi-use outdoor space. It’s safe to say the project was an overwhelming success, and the new space will be an amazing spot for the local people to take advantage of.

Dave Cooper, a business development manager here at Brown Recycling, was instrumental in organising certain aspects of the project, so we thought we’d add a little word in from him:

“I contacted the DIY SOS Big Build team to offer our support to them on this project with it being local to our facility.

We were able to offer muck-away on tippers, wheelie bin hire and skip hire for the project that lasted just over two weeks. I also assisted the DIY SOS production team in sourcing asbestos removal, aggregates/soil and machine hire for the project, thanks to our network of local companies.

Overall, the DIY SOS team did an amazing job battling the elements from day one of the project and it had an amazing response from the charity when it was handed over!”

It was really great to see just how much the Brown Recycling team was able to help on this project that was so beneficial to the local community. We’re extremely proud of everyone who was involved and helped out, and a special thanks to Dave for being an organisational wizard!

We even got a big thank you from Matt Skilton who was the series producer for DIY SOS: The Big Build. Here’s what he said:

“We are hugely grateful to Brown Recycling for their help on DIY SOS: The Big Build in Stoke. Dave and the team went above and beyond to clear the site and then bring in other suppliers who also supported this great cause. Thanks to the generosity of countless suppliers and volunteers, Stoke now has a community centre that will support its residents for many years to come.”

If you haven’t seen the episode, you can still catch it on BBC iPlayer!

The charity work that we do here at Brown Recycling is what keeps us going throughout the year, so we’re very much looking forward to our next project!
