Newcastle-under-Lyme is one of the many boroughs of Staffordshire, and operates a waste transfer station serviced by Brown Recycling in line with the 2007 Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy to promote more environmentally friendly waste disposal methods. With a head office function on-site, Newcastle Borough Council (NBC) is leading the way in Staffordshire Recycling.
Brown Recycling partnered with NBC in 1997 with the aim of improving the council’s green credentials, and helping to reduce landfill costs. We now provide 98% recycling on their dry waste, and 100% recycling on all other waste types for NBC, providing a tailor made solution that reduces the cost of waste management requirements, and successfully achieves Newcastle Borough Council’s business and environmental performance targets through a 100% diversion from landfill.
Using our state-of-the-art SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) facility, we’ve ensured the successful improvement of NBC’s green credentials year on year, and will continue to do so with our long-standing partnership.
